MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Laredo Youth Orchestra is to offer exceptional musical training to young people in the community, educate young musicians in a professional atmosphere, to provide training by professional musicians of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, to give opportunity to perform a wide variety of music literature, to support local music teachers and programs, and to enrich the cultural life of the area by cultivating the next generation of musicians and audiences.Music Director and Conductor
After graduating, he then pursued his musical studies at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. There he furthered his cello studies with Professor Emmanuel Lopez and studied conducting with Dr. Douglas Morrison, and in 2008, he acquired his Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Music Education. Recently, Guillermo received his Masters degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he was selected to be the Strings Initiative Graduate Assistant for 2008-2010 school year. There he was under the tutelage of the cello pedagogue, Dr. Wesley Baldwin and conducting with Mr. James Fellenbaum. click here for full bio.
